As some may know, it is “Style Me May” and we have engagement shoots on our mind! So we are here to give some advice on choosing that perfect outfit for your photos!
As spring is winding down and summer is kicking in to high gear, it’s always fun to add a little color to your wardrobe. Currently, a couple of the biggest trends are color blocking and adding pops of color; and believe it or not, many photographers love to work with this!
Sometimes future brides are afraid to wear too much color in their engagement shoots in fear of the colors not meshing well with the background. However, there is no need to worry, if done right, the contrast of colors can make the picture turn out quite lovely.
As mentioned, a couple of huge trends in fashion right now are adding pops of color and color blocking.
Spice up neutral tones of white, black, gray, and brown with a “pop of color.” Add in a chunky bright necklace, bright colored heels, a bright bangle, bright earrings, a bright colored hair accessory, or a bright ribbon, sash, or belt to pump up your look. You can also compliment a neutral skirt, pants, or top by wearing a colorful sweater, top, skirt, pants etc. for bold look. Some of our favorite combinations are: chocolate brown and teal, neon and black, gray and yellow, and white and fuchsia.
Be creative and daring with color blocking. Colors you wouldn’t normally put together, or think of putting together, can actually look quite cute. Have fun and be unique by counterbalancing bright contrasting colors; perhaps you may want to mix pink and yellow, pink and orange, teal and orange, or turquoise and red. The possibilities are endless if you just set your mind to it.
If you are concerned with your sweetie not matching, don’t hesitate to get your fiancé in with the trend as well. He can wear a colorful tie or shirt with a pop of color also; or you may even want to color block each other!
An innovated fun and fresh style just may help with making your engagement photos the talk of all your friends and family. By adding these bright and fun colors your picture will stand out and just may be that extra “pop” you are looking for!
