Make your wedding bouquet stand out by being original and innovative.

There are many different ideas out there that can be applied to your wedding bouquet, which can make your bouquet out-of-the-ordinary and extraordinary. Whether you want to use real flowers or fake ones, here are some ideas that you may find interesting:

How cute are these butterflies on this bouquet? This would be adorable for a springtime outdoor wedding! Even dragonfly or little bird embellishments would look cute as well; they definitely add something special to the flowers.

This bouquet is remarkable with its unique heart shaped spherical design; we think it’s a total eye-catcher!

Use colorful flowers along with neutral colors to create shapes within the bouquet. When this is held at the right angle, the shape can be seen in photographs; you can create anything from a heart, to your guys’ initials, to your wedding date, to another symbolic meaning you may love.

This is really simple but definitely has the ability to impress. Even though these flowers are paper, they still look super cute, especially because they are over-sized.

This large satin flower is yet another simple concept, but would be adorable for all the bridesmaids to carry.

This bouquet uses paper flowers as well, but notice the writing on some of the pedals of the flowers; you can write anything on there from Bible verses, to vows, to music lyrics.

This is made of silk flowers, gems, and embellishments; it’s different but still looks very elegant and classy.

If you are looking for something affordable, DIY, and unique, make a bouquet with buttons.

Bouquets made of fabric flowers with button centers are another one-of-a-kind alternative to using real flowers. Another great thing about using fake flowers is that they will last forever, along with the wedding memories.

It seems as if the average wedding guest book gets stuck in a cupboard or drawer somewhere and completely forgotten about until it is time to do some spring-cleaning, but this does not need to be the case. No longer do your guest books have to be a simple book with papers and pen marks; they can be unique, cute, and many ideas can be made into home decor or something useful.

Your guests can write on stones, which can wind up being part of your home decor later on. Place them in a wine glass, Mason jar, or vase for a cute and polished look.

Set up a photo booth, a Polaroid, or digital camera with a printer, so guests can either take photos and write a message on them, or they can put a scrapbook together right then and there by adding the photo to an album and writing a special note underneath.

Have a tree with paper leaves. Set out the precut paper leaves with pens and ribbon to hang them with, so guests can write their well wishes as a fun guest sign in. The finished product can go up in your house, be taken apart and put in a scrapbook, or laminated for preservation and restrung on the tree.

Have a pen and card set up at everyone’s table setting so they can sign it at their leisure. I also love the idea of giving each guest a fun question to answer; the results can make a fun little booklet.

This is such a fun idea! Make fill-in-the-blank cards for everyone to fill out. Imagine how much fun these will be to look back at in 10 years.

Have people sign recycled wine bottles. The recycled wine bottles can either be used as flower vases or as a source of light (by drilling two holes in the back of the bottle and stringing lights through) later on.

Just like in high school when everyone signs your yearbook, have friends and family write their warm wishes in a photo book or album of your engagement and dating photos.

How cute are these heart cutouts? Make cute cutouts for everyone to write notes on, when finished, they can be placed in a basket, box, or bag for you and your hubby to go home and look through after the honeymoon.

Guests can sign an engraved plate or dish, which you can have on display at your house for memories that will last years to come!

I really love all these ideas for friends and family to give advice to you as a newlywed couple. It is nice to know what has worked for everyone else and hear his or her perspective on certain situations.

This is pretty funny! Have a “caption this” sign in. Everyone can write their own caption on your guys’ photos.

Got to say, this is probably one of my favorites. When sending out wedding invitations, include a blank recipe card for everyone to fill out, so they can bring it to the wedding and place it in a box; you will have an instant cookbook!

When signing in, everyone can write their address, phone number, email, etc. so you can ensure that you have everyone’s contact information without having to scramble to get it last minute later on.

Instead of paying to get hair done, having bridesmaids wear headpieces can be a great alternative. Many ideas can be fast, easy, low-cost, and DIY.

You can buy plain headbands, hats, hair pins, or barrettes and add embellishments to them. In fact, you can even have a get-together with all your bridesmaids so everyone can make their headpieces together; this could be a great ice-breaker if not all your bridesmaids know each other before the bachelorette party.

Here are a few fun ideas for your wedding:

I know hats aren’t always for everyone, but this hat is a super cute idea for an outdoor summer or spring wedding.

This reminds me of a hippie headband, but I think something like this would look perfect if your bridesmaids have long maxi style dresses.

This crochet headband can be a super cute look with the right dress. If you do not want to make your own, check out Krochet Kids. Krochet Kids makes headbands that all the girls can wear and provide jobs to those in need in third world countries.

Hair pins/barretts are a super cute and easy to fix hair with. They are perfect for a casual small wedding.

You cannot go wrong with a classic flower crown. Not only do they smell nice, but they can be dried up and kept as a keepsake after the wedding also.

Real (or fake) flowers look gorgeous in any woman’s hair.

Do you have feathers in your bouquet? Try feathers on your bridesmaids’ headbands as well.

Be mismatched. One girl can wear a bow, one can wear a flower, one can wear a flower crown, one can wear a hat, and one can wear a headband.

Getting hair done can be expensive, so these ideas can definitely help out those on budget and looking for something unique.

Bridesmaids In Skirts

Skirts and tops are a great alternative to bridesmaid dresses. Not only can they potentially be a lot cheaper, but they can be flattering for many body types as well.

Some girls don’t like to wear dresses; skirts and tops can be a happy-medium form dresses to tops and pants.

Instead of mismatched bridesmaid dresses, have bridesmaids wear mismatched skirts. Whether it is pencil, hi-low, A-line, pleated, etc. there is bound to be a cut and style fitting for all their body types.

Another idea is to wear mismatched tops. All the skirts can be the same, but everyone can wear different styled tops. If some want their arms covered and others want to wear tank tops, this is a sure way to please everyone. Some can even wear patterned tops as well.

Bridesmaids can be bold in patterned skirts. Keep the tops simple in order to impress with a daring pattern skirt on the bottom.

For a conservative and classy look, long skirts will do the trick.

Simple and casual, these ruffled tops with pencil skirts look super cute and would be perfect for a backyard wedding.

DIY! You can easily make tutu skirts with tulle from a local fabric store. Have a fun bridesmaid get-together so everyone can make her own tutu.

Here are more tutu skirts. Love the striped tops and ribbon around the waist!

Lace skirts are classic and elegant. By choosing a neutral colored skirt, you can pair it with a colorful top to add a “pop of color.”

These tiered skirts look so cute paired with these white tank tops; great way to spruce up a plain tank top that everyone will likely already have in her closet.

They say opposites attract, right? Every other bridesmaid can switch up her look.

If your wedding is on a colder day, bridesmaids can wear a sweater with their skirt.

There are a lot of ways to switch up your bridesmaid’s looks with skirts and tops.

While most bridesmaid dresses collect dust in the back of the closet, skirts and tops can be used again on many occasions; since these outfits can be reused, this idea can even be considered “green.”

The Centerpiece: Highlight of the Table

Make your tables stand out with unique centerpieces. Sure, regular flower bouquets are beautiful, but that look has been overdone. There are plenty of creative ways to bypass traditional wedding decor and make your tables unique, bold, and beautiful.

Use lanterns as the main focal point of your table; they will light up the table and be a charming alternative to large flower centerpieces.

Baby’s breath can be gorgeous by itself; you can add beads/pearls to spruce up the look.

Consider using bright citrus fruits (i.e. lemons, limes, oranges, blood oranges, grapefruit) to brighten up your centerpiece.

Try using grass for a simple and easy-to-manage centerpiece; the added butterfly embellishments are a super cute idea for an outdoor wedding.

Corn kernels and nuts are festive for a fall wedding and would look fantastic paired with pumpkins/squashes, brown branches/sticks, or white, orange, or yellow flowers.

Floating candles look beautiful and elegant in glass vases; the vases can be filled with anything from wood branches, petals, flowers, stones, or seashells.

Whether carved as seen above, hollowed out and carved with a light inside, or plain,  pumpkins would look darling for a fall wedding.

Even fruit (real or fake) in vases can look magnificent as well. The grapes would be perfect for a wine vineyard theme wedding.

Rocks, stones, pebbles, or marbles can be used around candles, in the bottom of vases, or set on the table around the centerpiece.

Lavender is not only pretty, but it has an alluring aroma as well. It can be wrapped around votive candleholders and used in your floral arrangement as well.

For a earthy and eco-friendly look, use veggies as candle holders.

If you are looking for a wallet friendly alternative to flowers, making centerpieces out of things like paper airplanes, pinwheels, origami, etc. can look super cute for a casual wedding.

Feathers seem to be a recent hit among brides planning their wedding. Large feathers can look beautiful alone or mixed with flowers as well.

Candy like lollipops, candy canes, and jellybeans are colorful and cute for an unconventional centerpiece, and the best part is that it is eatable!

For the couple who loves to travel or the couple who is looking for something completely different, using items like a globe, flags, or hot air balloons would be the perfect match!

Filling vases with sand and seashells is prefect for a beach wedding. Especially love the table number written on the sand dollar as well!

Put pictures on or around the vase for guests to see. This could be pictures from your engagement shoot, pictures of you and your soon-to-be-husband doing your favorite things, pictures throughout your dating, or pictures from when you two were kids until now.

Wheat can look really nice with flowers; it looks great for an earthy backyard theme wedding.

Use wine bottle as vases. For an even more unique look, they can be painted or LED floral lights can be put in the vases to light them up.

Food coloring can be used to make drab clear water into vibrant colored water.

An adorable idea for a country wedding, use a cowboy boot for the vase! The flowers can be stuck in floral foam and placed in a boot from a goodwill or vintage store; how cute is this?!

Drill or puncture holes in recycled aluminum cans and place a votive candle or flowers inside. This makes for a cheap but cute table decoration.

Candelabras look lovely in replacement of flowers, with a stunning centerpiece like this, who will miss the flowers?

Fish bowls add a special touch to the table and the fish can always be given away to kids who attend the wedding, just like winning them at the carnival!

If you are a couple who shares a love for reading, old books make an exquisite centerpiece.

Dress your table with a fabulous and unique centerpiece. When guests walk in the reception venue one of the first things they notice are the centerpieces, so have them swoon over one-of-a-kind table decorations.

Giving Back at Your Wedding

As our society becomes more aware of the environment around them, green, eco-friendly, and charitable weddings are seemingly becoming more popular year by year. So if you are looking for ways to give back at your wedding, here a few simple ideas to accomplish your goals.

1) Wear Toms in your wedding or give them as presents to your wedding party; Toms gives a pair of shoes to a person in need for every pair sold.

2) Find a wedding and reception venue at a place such as: historical, regional, and state parks, museums, non-profit organizations, and arboretums, which will ensure proceeds of rental fees will go to helping the venue stay in good shape.

3) Give your wedding party favors from Krochet Kids; for example, bridesmaids can get headbands and groomsmen can get bow ties, or perhaps, bridesmaids and groomsmen can wear these in the wedding. Korchet Kids is giving jobs to those who do not have access to such luxuries in places like Uganda and Peru.

4) Instead of giving your wedding party gifts, give money to their favorite charity of choice.

5) Give your guests reusable bags as wedding favors; with plastic bags being banned in many places, this can be a very useful and “green” gift for everyone.

6) Go green with items like natural burlap, recycled cans/jars/or glass to use for centerpieces, and recycled paper for invitations.

7) Instead of throwing it away, give all your leftovers to people in need of a meal.

8) Instead of receiving wedding gifts, request for guests to give donations or money to your favorite charity. You can also give away the money you get on your wedding tree, instead of keeping it for yourself.

9) Instead of a bouquet, make your centerpieces with plants, which can be re-planted later; you can even have small plants or herbs like sage/rosemary/basil, which can be replanted or used for food as wedding favors.

10) Instead of buying or using chairs made of plastic and metals, have a picnic style wedding where guests can sit on blankets.

11) Donate your dress to someone in need or charities like Brides Against Breast Cancer.

12) Request for guests to carpool to the wedding; guests that can come together in one car will use less gas.

13) Drive or ride off in a hybrid/electric car, stagecoach, or bicycle.

14) Participate in a charity like Walk for the Cure or volunteer somewhere such as a soup kitchen instead of having a bachelorette or bachelor party.

15) Have your wedding and reception at the same place; guests, you, and your wedding party will not have to use more gas driving to a another location.

16) Have guests sign in electronically instead of using paper; websites like Perfect Wedding Wiki sell software that can take pictures of guests with a web cam, upload the photo, and allow guests to sign in while writing a personal message to the bride and groom.

17) Have your wedding and reception early and outside so you will not need to use electricity for lights, air conditioning, etc.

18) Truffles for a Cause is another great idea for wedding favors because when you purchase with Truffles for a Cause, some of the proceeds will go to a charity they work with.

19) Bridesmaids can wear recycled dresses; whether dresses are made with material from other dresses, dresses from bridesmaid’s own closets, or dresses bought used, this saves and reuses fabric.

20) Purchase your wine, whether for favors or drinks at the wedding, from One Hope Wine; for every bottle sold, they give half the profits to charity.

Weddings can be very expensive, but with all of the money being spent, others can benefit as well; yes, it is your dream day, but you can also make someone else’s dream come true as well, all while taking a few “green” steps towards keeping this world a place we can all continue to safely dream in.

Make all your guests “blush” with a blush themed wedding.

Blush tones are soft and elegant and look gorgeous in spring and summer weddings. You can get ideas for color schemes by using your own makeup as a sample color palette.

Whether you make your entire color scheme blush tones, or incorporate just a few blush items, we are loving this trend!

The offset of blush bridesmaid dresses with the bride’s white wedding dress looks beautiful.

Looking for a nontraditional wedding dress? This blush dress is absolutely stunning!

Blush heels can be worn by the bride and/or bridesmaids; they would look gorgeous with white, beige, or gray dresses.

Headband or headpieces with blush embellishments look lovely.

Using a sash or ribbon around the bride or bridesmaid dresses is a great way to spice up a solid color dress.

The bride may want to wear a blush embellished garter.

Wear soft neutral tones of pinks and browns on your lips, cheeks, and eyes.

Paint your nails soft pink or neutral colors; it looks classy and chic.

Blush toned flowers look very pretty by themselves or mixed with white or brighter toned flowers too.

Add ribbon and/or flowers to your ring pillow

Incorporate colors in your altar with flowers, ribbons, or tulle.

Use blush colored balloons for your big exit.

These centerpieces are absolutely remarkable and sophisticated with ivory accents.

Love the added touch of gold to the blush table cloth, napkins, and plates.

Use sheer organza fabric to wrap your chairs with.

Light up your reception with chinese lanterns.

Serve blush toned drinks!

Have a food bar with fun soft pink colored foods like cotton candy, bubble gum balls, pink wafer cookies, frosted donuts, frosted cupcakes, frosted cookies, even colored hard boiled eggs!

Lastly, don’t forget the fabulous wedding cake!

These colors are beautiful alone or work well with white, cream, gray, silver, gold, and light brown color tones.

Let us know what you think, will you use blush tones in your wedding?

We would love to hear from you!

bouquet wraps, orange county wedding planner, orange county weddings, san Francisco wedding planner, san Francisco weddings, wedding bouquets, wedding ideas, wedding wednesday

It’s Wedding Wednesday and we have been wandering upon some great ideas to wrap your bouquet with.

Liven up your bouquet with a unique wrap, which can be easy, D.I.Y. and affordable.
Dog tags or engraved metal plates add a certain “charm” to your bouquet; whether it be your initials, wedding date, quote, etc. they personalize the bride’s bouquet.

Using tulle and embellishments are simple, but still classy and cute.Just like a little pail, everyone can carry their bouquet by a handle, which is super cute in an outside wedding.A personal favorite, add pictures of either the bride and groom’s parents, bride and groom, and/or other pictures of people or things who have important meaning to the bride. To add well wishes, add a horseshoe or any other item that means “luck” to your wrap.   If you are looking for something classy and elegant, pearls may be your perfect match!
If you or someone you know can knit or crochet, you can make make a cute wrap, which can be paired with a ribbon and/or a brooch.

Printed ribbon adds spunk to a bouquet. Simply add pearls, beads, sequins, etc. to a ribbon in order to make your own design. Diamond mesh ribbon can be wrapped around the flower stems to add shine and sparkle. Use etched porcelain charms to customize your bouquet. Buttons add a cute edge to a bouquet.

Burlap or jute looks earthy and natural for a “green” or outdoor wedding.

Mesh netting is simple and different. Use napkin rings (probably ones which have elasticity) to liven up a plain silk wrap. This can be a perfect opportunity to incorporate your something borrowed; if a mom, grandmother, dad, or grandfather can lend an old handkerchief, it can be used for a wrap.
Lace can always give an old-fashioned and sophisticated feel to your bouquet.

Adding seashells, starfish, sand dollars, etc. is fitting for a beach wedding.

Add scrabble letters to the bride and/or bridesmaid wraps; each wrap can say something different, or be the same!

Don’t forget, bouquets don’t just end with the flowers, there is so much more you can do to make your bouquet unique and beautiful.

So have fun and be creative!

What to Throw Instead of Rice

alternatives to throwing rice, orange county weddings, san Francisco weddings, throwing rice, Unique Wedding Ideas, wedding exit, weddings

Throwing rice as the couple leaves the ceremony is an old tradition to symbolize well wishes and good luck, however, some venues no longer let you do this. In part, this is due to rice being messy and rumors of rice causing harm to birds.

If your venue does not let you through rice, or you simply would like to do something different, here are some alternatives to throwing rice…

Bird Seed: Granted the rumors of rice being harmful for birds are true, or you want to be eco-friendly, and/or you just want to do something nice for the birds, birdseed is still a cute and common option to consider.

Paper Planes: You know the kids at the wedding will have fun with this one, paper airplanes are super cute, especially for a couple who loves to travel.

Lavender: Who cares if this is becoming overly popular? Lavender smells AMAZING and is eco-friendly!

Glow Sticks: When leaving at night, this looks so awesome! It photographs so well!

Pom Poms: Cheap to purchase from a local craft store, pom pom balls are colorful and cute, plus they won’t hurt when all the guests are throwing them at you!

Balloons: Guests letting go of balloons as you pass by them, looks so awesome, and of course, is a great pop of color.

Horseshoes: As a sign of good luck in some cultures, throw horseshoe shaped confetti!

4 Leaf Clovers: Another sign of good luck, cute for a green themed wedding, and perfect for a March wedding, throw confetti 4 leaf clovers.

Fake Snow: So cute for a winter wedding, buying bags of fake snow for guests to throw is cheap and looks lovely in photos.

Leaves: Being eco-friendly, rustic, and colorful, leaves are perfect for a fall wedding!

Kazoos: Venue won’t let you throw anything at all? Guests can make your exit a musical by tooting kazoos.

Bubbles: Another great option if your venue will not let you throw anything, bubbles create little to no mess and the bubble bottles can be decorated and given as favors.

Sprinkles: Really colorful and affordable, throwing sprinkles will photograph very nicely and be beautiful pops of color.

Rose Petals: The flower gil doesn’t have to be the only one throwing flowers, guests can shower you with petals as well, which looks gorgeous in photos.

Beach Balls: Love this for a beach or casual outdoor wedding! It’s too cute!

Baseball Bats: So cute for a couple who shares a love for sports, guests can make a bridge for bride and groom to walk under as they leave.

Ribbons/Streamers: Attach ribbons or streamers to sticks/wands so guests can wave them as you walk past.

Glitter/Sequins: Who doesn’t love shiny things? Glitter and/or sequins though messy, will look so cute in photos.

Sparklers: This obviously needs to be done with caution, but sparklers light up the night sky and look awesome as you make your big exit.

Since most of these can make quite a mess, I say choose what makes you happy, but also consider those who are cleaning up. I think some of the best options are those that are eco-friednly and biodegradable.

Most of all, make your exit a unique one!

Wedding Food Bars

food bar, orange county weddings, san Francisco weddings, wedding food, wedding ideas, Wedding Reception Ideas

Food bars at weddings have become quite popular lately.

They are a simple and easy way for your guests to have fun picking out what they like; this will hopefully help avoid any food being wasted, which sometimes happens with preset menu options.

Food bars can also be helpful for those who have special dietary needs; with many options available, they should ideally find something that will work for them.

Not only are food bars great for appeasing your guests, but they are sometimes cheaper than catered food.

Here are some yummy and creative ideas:

Sandwich Bar: An assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, and veggies make for an easy meal perfect for a casual afternoon wedding; don’t forget peanut butter and jelly for the kids!

S’mores Bar: Such an awesome idea! Everyone can have fun making their own s’mores, whether it’s an alternative option to cake, or something guests can have fun making, this is such a creative idea!

Waffle Bar: Sweet and savory waffles can be another alternative to cake, or a tasty snack as well. Arrange an assortment of fruits, nuts, syrups, chocolate chips, and other toppings for guests to make their own delicious creations. Warm waffles are also great with frozen yogurt or fried chicken!

Burger Bar: Guests can choose from beef, chicken, veggie, or turkey burgers, along with toppings and condiments for their own perfect juicy burger.

Pizza Bar: If your reception venue has access to, or you can get a pizza oven, it may be fun for everyone to make their own personal pan pizza. Set up a table spread of toppings so everyone can build their own pizza. If you can find a cook who knows how to cook them just perfect, no one has to worry about cooking their own.

Barbecue Bar: Hot dogs, veggies, beef, chicken, kabobs, or whatever can be thrown on a grill, can be a pleasant meal for an outdoor spring or summer wedding. Don’t forget all the fixin’s that come on the side!

Pop Corn Bar: For guests to take home or munch on at the reception, a flavored popcorn bar has been very popular lately.

Candy Bar: We have heard many people who have candy bars at their wedding; guests can pick out their favorites and take them home, which is a great alternative to Jordan Almonds.

Asian Wok Bar: Guests can have a plethora of choices such as: an assortment of veggies, beef, chicken, tofu, or fish, for the servers to cook up and serve with choice of noodles, whole wheat pasta, white rice, fried rice, or brown rice.

Pasta Bar: Everyone can have their choice of sauce and noodles; whether marinara, pesto, alfredo, penne, whole grain, or spaghetti, guests can choose what they like best and add topings such as chicken, meatballs, veggies, cheese, etc.

Salad Bar: As a main course or just an appetizer, salad bars with all the works are always a safe bet to please most.

Frozen Yogurt Bar: Another alternative to cake, frozen yogurt with choice of toppings can be a healthy hit among guests.

Taco Bar: So delicious and easy to make, offer tacos with all the fillings that make it tasty for everyone.

Milkshake Bar: Just like Coldstone, have a variety of choices such as: candies, syrups, nuts, fruits, soy milk, nonfat milk, regular milk, and an array of ice cream, for guests to pick what they want in their milkshake, a server can put it together and blend; yum!

Cupcake Bar: Have some options of cupcake flavors, leave them plain without frosting, and let guests top their own with their choice of frosting and toppings; guests can either take them home as a favor, or eat them there for a dessert.

Milk and Cookie Bar: Can make a great wedding favor, dessert, or snack. Serving the cookies with choice of milk or coffee.

Fondue Bar: Fondue doesn’t just have to be for dessert; the whole meal can be fondue. Appetizers with cheese fondue, main course with barbecue or teriyaki, and dinner with white, milk, or dark chocolate.

French Fry Bar: Have french, curly, wedge, or sweet potato fries along with delicious toppings like chili, cheese, onions, ketchup, ranch, barbecue, honey mustard, sweet and sour sauce etc.

Coffee Bar: Great when serving dessert, everyone can get a fancy coffee with flavors or syrups. If you can get an expresso/cappuccino machine, people can have lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos instead of just regular coffee.

Buffalo Wings Bar: Works well for an appetizer, offer a selection of chicken wing flavors, served along with dipping sauces; messy, but so good!

Hummus Bar: Wonderful snack or appetizer, hummus can be served with a variety of foods from veggies, to pita bread, to chips, and even meats; with the variety of flavors hummus comes in, there can a lot of options.

Chili Bar: Cute idea for summer, outside, and/or southern style weddings. Serve chili along with everything chili tastes good with like: potatoes, burgers, hot dogs, fries, cheese, and onion.

Potato Bar: Everyone can have their own stuffed baked potato, lay out everything that goes well on a potato such as: cheese, onion, scallions, broccoli, bacon, afredo sauce, chicken, sour cream, etc.

Soup Bar: Relatively wallet friendly, a soup bar can make a great appetizer or main course. Serve along with choice of breads and hopefully everyone can find a soup they like.

Bon appétit!
